The Rotary Club of Rosemount is pleased to announce that Rosemount High School senior Maggie Tulay is its January 2017 Student of the Month.

At the beginning of her high school career, Maggie’s grandmother told her she would “get out of it what she put in.”  Maggie took this advice to heart, taking seven honors classes, five AP classes and one CIS class during high school.

At the beginning of her high school career, Maggie’s grandmother told her she would “get out of it what she put in.”  Maggie took this advice to heart, taking seven honors classes, five AP classes and one CIS class during high school. She has been on the academic honor roll since 2013.  She is also a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and the Tri-M Honor Society.

Maggie has achieved this academic success while being actively involved in RHS soccer, basketball and track.  In soccer, Maggie was part of the RHS team that placed second in the Minnesota State Tournament in 2016.  As a three-sport athlete, Maggie has had to learn the importance of time management.  In all three sports, Maggie has serve as a captain for her teams.

Maggie has also demonstrated her willingness to serve by participating in student council.  In this role, she volunteers with freshman orientation, picture day, toys for tots and helping to organize school dances. She has also participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has volunteered as an RHS student ambassador, a role that allows her to welcome new students and help them acclimate to RHS.

Outside of school, Maggie leads in her church by being a confirmation group leader at St. Joseph’s Church. She has been involved in two mission trips, one in Fremont, Nebraska and another in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  On both trips, Maggie learned valuable lessons about faith and service to others. Maggie has also served in a variety of other ways, including at Feed My Starving Children and as an acolyte at St. Joseph’s Church.

In her free time, Maggie enjoys spending time with her friends, going to the lake, water-skiing, kayaking, tubing and almost anything that doesn’t involve cold weather.

After high school, she plans to attend Xavier University, University of Maryland or Minnesota State University, Mankato.  She plans to study speech pathology or special education.
