ImageThe Rotary Club of Rosemount is pleased to announce that Rosemount High School senior Emily Brossart is its March 2014 Student of the Month.

 

As a Rosemount High School student, Emily has excelled in academics. She is ranked near the top of her class and has taken many AP, CIS and honors courses. She has been named an AP Scholar with Distinction by the College Board.  She is a National Merit Scholar Finalist, a member of the National Honor Society, Captain of the Quiz and Knowledge Bowl, and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

 

Emily enjoys music and is involved in most of the instrumental music programs at RHS. She participates in the RHS Wind Ensemble and plays in a variety of competitions, both in solo and ensemble roles. As part of the Marching Band, Emily discovered a community of people who work together to achieve big goals.  As Drum Major for the Marching Band, she served as a student leader who serves the band and its needs. She enjoyed traveling with the band to Pasadena, California where the band participated in the 2014 Rose Parade.

Through the National Honor Society, Emily participates in a variety of volunteer activities to benefit charities through blood drives and other fundraisers. She enjoys computer science and uses her experience to teach children at computer science coding camp. Emily also also works as a teacher’s aid for an AP computer science class and enjoys inspiring younger students to explore computer science.

After graduation, Emily plans to attend South Dakota School of Mines where she plans to major in chemical engineering.  She will be interning at Thompson Reuters as a computer scientist during the summer of 2014.
