The Rotary Club of Rosemount is pleased to announce that Rosemount High School senior Abby Linnett is its November Student of the Month.

Linnett is active in the Irish Update video production class at RHS, and has produced videos to highlight recycling and anti-bullying initiatives at the school. She also helped produce a video for teachers highlighting copyright issues.

“They started calling me the face of recycling at the school,” Linnett said.

She is a member of National Honor Society and Youth Teaching Youth at RHS and is in the jazz and pep bands at the school. She has been hired by the school to film RHS events. She said she learned early on the value of hard work.

Good things don’t come to those who wait,” she said. “Good things come to people who work for it.”

Outside of school Linnett is involved in the Minnesota High School Equestrian Association and is secretary of the Dakota County 4-H Association. She also serves as a mentor in the 4-H dog project.

“Abby is an unbelievably great leader,” principal John Wollersheim said in his introduction.

Linnett, a former intern and current student columnist at the Independent Town Pages, would like to major in broadcast journalism in college. She is considering the University of Minnesota, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Missouri.

Each month during the school year Rosemount Rotary recognizes a student who exemplifies Rotary International’s motto, Service Above Self. The club meets for lunch at noon Fridays at Fireside Restaurant. Guests are welcome.
