The Rotary Club of Rosemount is pleased to announce that Rosemount High School senior Ryan Poehler is its September 2014 Student of the Month.
 
Ryan excels both in and out of the classroom.  He has taken numerous AP and honors courses, including AP U.S. History, AP European History, and AP English Language and Composition. He is currently taking AP Calculus and AP Psychology while he also takes collection classes in English and Spanish.
 
Outside of the classroom, Ryan is involved in National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Tri-M Honor Society, Student Council, Speech and Chamber Singers.  He is also an active participant in the theater program and participates in each of the four theater productions put on by the high school each year.
 
Ryan has also been selected by his peers to serve in leadership roles during high school.  He has served as Speech Captain for the past two years, is Vice-President of Student Council and is President of the RHS Concert Choir.
 
Ryan is also an active volunteer in the community.  Each year, volunteers with  Vocalmotion.  These camps are organized by music and dance teachers and are attended by local elementary school children who are gifted in these areas. Ryan also gives back to the community through weekly participation in Carnivale, a program for special needs children that allows them to spend time with volunteers playing games and taking part in arts, crafts and music.
 
After high school, Ryan plans to attend the University of Minnesota and major in business.
