Today, we heard from Any Countryman, a Senior Development Manager with the American Cancer Society. We learned how they are fighting cancer from every angle - research, direct service, public education, behavior change & advocacy. We learned that 1 in 3 people in the US will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. We learned about Hope Lodge with 30+ lodges across the US providing a nurturing, home-like environment for those affected by cancer. We learned of a vaccination for teens (13-17) that help prevent 10 different cancers. Like Rotary's hope for a world without Polio, the American Cancer Society's hope is for a world without Cancer.
Our very own President, Eric Becker, is part of the Real Men Wear Pink campaign. He has also put together a Pickleball Tournament fundraiser for Cancer at the Hope Fieldhouse in Rosemount on Saturday, October 30th.
