Rotary Student of the Month: Eric Udermann
The Rotary Club of Rosemount is pleased to announce that Rosemount High School senior Eric Udermann is its May 2015 Student of the Month.

Eric has lived in Rosemount all his life.  He is the son of Mike and Marty Udermann and is one of six children.

Eric prepared for college at RHS by taking several college classes, including CIS Spanish, Fictional Intro, Composition and Advanced Placement Calculus. “CIS” represents College in Schools, which is a University of Minnesota class taught by a certified Rosemount teacher.

Eric has been active outside the classroom, playing football until a back injury ended his career in 11th grade. However, he joined the soccer team as a senior, playing goalkeeper for the school team and then for an indoor club during the winter months. Eric also participated in track each year during high school, ending his high school career as team captain.

Eric has also been a leader through Boy Scouts. He recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Scout project, he reorganized the storage area in his church’s basement, building two stationary shelves and one mobile cabinet unit.

Eric has also spent much of his time serving others while in high school.  He participated in the Shamrock Ball, which was a semi-formal dance and event that paired National Honor Society students with special needs students from RHS. Eric has also helped fellow Boy Scouts with their Eagle Scout projects, which included building canoe racks at Lebanon Hills Park, making rosaries for soldiers in Iraq, and making frisbee golf throw off points. Eric also volunteers at Habitat for Humanity for a week each summer. He is also involved at St. Joseph’s Church where he teaches second grade religion and serves as a youth leader. He has also helped with his church’s Vacation Bible School and Summer Stretch Program. The Summer Stretch Program brings middle school students together for a month in the summer. Students spend the first half of the day in a service project and the second half of the day in a fun activity at local pools, water parks and gyms.

In his spare time, Eric enjoys being outdoors. He enjoys camping, backpacking, frisbee golf, mountain biking and playing soccer with his friends. He also enjoys cooking, grilling and eating great food.

In the fall, Eric plans to attend the University of St. Thomas where he will major in actuarial science. He also plans to participate in track and field as a decathlete. Eric is the recipient of an ROTC Army three-year scholarship through the University of Minnesota.
