Today our club toured the SMART Center.  Our tour was led by Joe Leko,  Chief Deputy Sheriff  (Dakota County).  It was fun and informative to visit the training site and see the Electronic Crimes Unit area.  We are fortunate to have this state of the art facility serving Rosemount & Dakota County.  Joe, thanks for the tour and your leadership.

Dakota County's Safety and Mental Health Alternative Response Training (SMART) Center offers space for law enforcement and other first responders from across the region to access crisis training.

The 35,000-square-foot facility houses training space for:

  • Minnesota Crisis Intervention Team
  • Regional public safety training
  • Dakota County Electronic Crimes Unit (ECU), a partnership with 11 police departments
  • Sheriff's Office Parks, Lakes and Trails Division, which responds to regional response needs
