In the first half of June, we heard from Joe Leko, Deputy Chief at the Dakota County Sheriff's office.   Joe has been there 25 years and gave us an overview of the office and all the tasks assigned to that office including court security, jail, transport (1400 per month), drug task force, water patrol, parks along with patrolling the 355 sq miles of rural Dakota County.  Joe is running unopposed for Dakota County Sheriff as the current Sheriff, Tim Leslie, is retiring.

Then we heard from our very own Rosemount Police Chief, Mikael Dahlstrom and we were introduced to our new Deputy Chief, Carson Thomas.  It was interesting to learn of Carson's varied background and how his career took him from California to Rosemount.

It's always great to hear from those that protect and serve.  We take a lot for granted sometimes but are grateful for the work of both the Sheriff's Office and our Police Department.
