Rosemount High School senior Stephen Sawyer, son of Mark and Cynthia Sawyer, has been selected as the December 2012 Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Rosemount.

Stephen is an outstanding vocalist who was selected for the All-State men’s choir for 2011-2012. He participates in the On Stage Program and a variety of solo and ensemble contests and recently received the honor of being selected for the American Choral Directors Association North Central Divisional High School Honor Choir where he will perform alongside 100 singers from six Midwest states in Madison, Wis., this February.

Stephen is also an exceptional track athlete, a member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, a member of Tri-M Honor Society and a volunteer for the City of Rosemount Parks and Recreation department.

In addition to his extra curricular activities, Stephen has also racked up an extensive number of academic achievements. He was named an AP Scholar with Honor, which recognizes students who receive at least a 3.25 on AP exams taken and scores of three or higher on four or more of the exams. He was also named a Commended Scholar by the National Merit Scholarship Program, which recognizes the top five percent of students in the country for their scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

As a result of his outstanding achievements, Stephen has the distinction of having been recently accepted into the University of Michigan and the Naval Academy – the first student in some time from RHS to be accepted there.

Congratulations to Stephen on his outstanding accomplishments and being named the December 2012 Rotary Club of Rosemount Student of the Month!
